Southeastern Minority Job Fair (SEMJF)

Pre-registration is now open for the Southeastern Minority Job Fair (SEMJF) to be held in Marietta, GA on July 29-30, 2011. Pre-registration lasts from April 6, 2011 through April 22, 2011.

Registration for this event is 2 steps.

Step 1) PRE-REGISTRATION: You must log in to SYMPLICITY, select the “OCI” tab, SEMJF session will come up, and you will choose the “APPLY” button as though you are applying to the employer “Southeastern Minority Job Fair Pre-Registration.” You need not have a resume uploaded. You must have your @ufl.edu account listed in your profile until after the close of preregistration (April 22). After this, you may return your account address to any other email provider. If you do not pre-register by the deadline of April 22, 2011, you will not be permitted to participate in the event. These deadlines are very strict.

Step 2) On or about May 12, 2011 you will receive an email from SEMJF SYMPLICITY with a link, log in, and password. This is when you will be able to view employers participating in SEMJF and submit your materials.

Bidding will end on May 27, 2011 at 11:58pm EST. No resumes or other materials will be accepted after this point.

Both of these steps are required for your registration for SEMJF to be considered complete.

If you have questions, feel free to see the SEMJF website at www.semjf.org/student or contact me directly.

1Ls!! Foley Diversity Scholarship Program - DEADLINE April 1!

In 1998, Foley created this program to raise awareness of diversity-related issues in the legal profession. A strong and effective diversity program is one of the highest priorities of the firm, and the Diversity Scholarship Program exemplifies Foley’s tangible commitment to the advancement of diverse law students and to achieving a more inclusive legal community. Through the program, Foley awards a $5,000 scholarship to a diverse law student at select law schools: Berkeley, Duke, Florida, Georgetown, Michigan, Northwestern, UCLA, and Wisconsin.

Foley will award one scholarship in the amount of $5,000 to a first-year student at each law school noted above. To be eligible, an applicant must be either a) a member of one of the following government recognized racial/ethnic groups as defined by the Office of Federal Contract Compliance programs: American Indian/Alaskan Native, Asian/Pacific Islander, Black, or Hispanic or b) identify as LGBT. The scholarship will be paid either to the recipient or to the law school (at the recipient’s request) during the recipient’s spring semester and is to be applied to tuition, books, fees, and other expenses incident to law school attendance.
