Equal Justice Works/Skadden Fellowship Program

An internationally recognized, catalytic force for poverty law, Bet Tzedek Legal Services embraces the fundamental commitment of achieving full and equal access to justice for the most vulnerable members of our community. This bold vision has guided Bet Tzedek for over four decades, inspired its innovative and expansive initiatives, and forged one of today’s leading centers for social justice.

Every generation faces the opportunity and responsibility to meet the challenges of its era. The greatest problems confronting Los Angeles today —from entrenched poverty to homelessness and human trafficking —are complex, interrelated and urgent. Bet Tzedek responds to these community needs with creative and sustainable solutions that transform people’s lives and define justice for a new generation.

Bet Tzedek’s internationally unique portfolio of projects combine direct legal representation with powerful outreach, education, and legislative advocacy. Our initiatives address the root causes of poverty by engaging the people and the communities closest to them. Because of this, Angelenos gain new access to employment, housing, and healthcare, legal empowerment for physically and developmentally disabled adults, humanitarian aid to survivors of the Holocaust, and advocacy for communities victimized by discrimination and civil rights abuses.
