Career Fair



The ABA Law Student Division's third annual Career Fair provides a unique opportunity for 600 law student leaders who initiate and develop innovative programs at their schools and in their communities to meet with representatives from state and federal government agencies, military JAG, as well as public interest and non-profit groups for summer and new associate positions, internships and volunteer opportunities. An additional element of the Career Fair is the opportunity for law students to have their resumes reviewed and critiqued for maximum impact. July 7, 2009 - Advance Registration:
$75 LSD Members/$100 ABA Non-Member law students

A diverse panel of new and senior business attorneys from a variety of practice setting will provide frank and realistic advice for would-be business lawyers. Join a candid exchange focusing on what catches the eye of hiring attorneys, supervising attorneys, colleagues, and partners. Discover what distinguishes the best business lawyers from the merely adequate and take home tips for survival and success. A question and answer session will conclude this program.

Pathways to Employment in International Law
A unique forum that brings law students and new lawyers together with experienced legal practitioners to explore opportunities for employment in international law. Speakers will give advice and guidance on gaining practical experience and improving legal networking skills, as well as sharing their own paths to careers in international law.

10:45 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.
Careers in National Security Law
Panelists from the private sector, government, intelligence communities and members of the military will discuss career path options and job search techniques. Learn how to avoid the common mistakes made when applying for a national security position. Take home tips on gaining clearance and how to prepare for a career in this hot (and hiring) area of law. The program will conclude with a questions and answers session.
